Regius Professorship of Modern History: Notice

The Regius Professorship of Modern History, established in 1724, will become vacant upon the retirement of Professor Quentin Skinner. An appointment will be made by the Crown on the advice of an Advisory Committee. Applications are invited from candidates with an established international reputation in any field of History after the fall of the Roman Empire. It is expected that the new Regius Professor will assume office on 1 October 2009.

The appointment will be subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the University.
