This varied and broad role will appeal to qualified accountants who like to develop their teams, and value collaboration with other departments. WRITER AND EDITOR OF OBITUARIES

Jesus College seeks to appoint a part-time writer of obituaries for its Annual Report. The task involves collecting and collating information, and writing it up concisely in accordance with an established style. The hours will be equivalent to half a day a week, but the pattern of working is negotiable. The basic pay is £11.82 an hour.

Training and guidance will be supplied, but the ideal appointee will quickly become capable of working independently. The skills required include being well organized and efficient in working to deadlines, being methodical and careful over points of detail, being able to write clearly, and being computer-literate. Tact and discretion will also be essential, both in corresponding with the bereaved and in handling potentially sensitive personal information.

It would be appropriate for the appointee to have experience of working in a field involving research or handling information. An interest in history would be an advantage, as would some knowledge of the history of the Cambridge Colleges. An application form may be obtained from the website at http://www.jesus.cam.ac.uk/jobs/, or by telephoning 01223 339469.
