GRACES

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 16 January 2008

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, other than any which is withdrawn or for which a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 109), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 25 January 2008.

1. That, on the recommendation of the General Board and the Board of Graduate Studies, the general regulations for admission as a Graduate Student be amended as follows:1

Regulation 12.

By inserting at the end of the regulation the following proviso:

provided that a candidate may reject the offer of an allowance by writing to the Secretary of the Board within one month of the date on which the allowance was offered.

2. That the regulations for the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences be amended as follows:2

Regulation 2.

By deleting sub-paragraph (b), relettering sub-paragraphs (c) and (d) as (b) and (c) respectively, and amending cross-references accordingly.

1 Statutes and Ordinances, p. 411. The Board of Graduate Studies may allow the examination or re-examination of a candidate under certain circumstances. The proposed amendment to the regulation gives the candidate the opportunity to reject this offer.

2 Statutes and Ordinances, p. 544. The composition of the Council of the School has been amended to remove specific reference to the Directors of Centres within the School.
