The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that she has received a generous benefaction of £5m from the Reece Foundation towards the costs of constructing the new building for the Institute for Manufacturing at West Cambridge (see Reporter, 2006-07, p. 911). This benefaction will enable the original vision for the building and the Institute's work with manufacturing industries to be fulfilled.
In recognition of the benefaction the Council is submitting a Grace (Grace 3, p. 360) to name the new building for the Institute for Manufacturing as the Alan Reece Building after Dr Alan Reece, of Pearson Engineering.
