University Lectureship in the Faculty of Economics

Applications are invited for a University Lectureship in Economics from 1 September 2008. The Faculty is seeking applicants in any area of economics. Candidates should have a Ph.D. Degree, or be firmly expected to have a Ph.D. by September 2008, and should show evidence of significant scholarship.

Appointment will be subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the University. This is a tenured position with a five-year probationary period. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is £33,779 to £42,791 a year.

Deputy Team Leader, Students Statistics, in the Academic Division of the University Offices

The newly created Student Statistics team is responsible for ensuring the provision of accurate and up to date student data and for the statutory returns of student statistics to the Higher Education Statistics Agency and others. The post-holder will have a key role within the team, particularly in co-ordination and in setting priorities for the other members, as well as taking personal responsibility for individual tasks.

Applicants should be educated to degree level and be numerate with good analytical skills, and the ability to present and interpret statistics. An understanding of the nature of HESA and other returns, and the processes they involve, including experience of working with databases, would be an advantage. The salary will be in the range of £25,134 to £32,796 a year. The post is available for two years in the first instance.
