The Fellows of Clare Hall invite expressions of interest in the post of President of the College, to succeed Professor Ekhard Salje, who will reach the end of his term of office in September 2008.
Clare Hall is a Postgraduate College in the University of Cambridge. The College has 16 Official Fellows, 14 Professorial Fellows, 18 Research Fellows, and up to 42 Visiting Fellows from universities around the world, together with up to 150 graduate students.
The President, who is Clare Hall's Head of House, is elected for a single period of seven years, and is not eligible for re-election. The appointment will run from 1 October 2008. The President is normally required to reside in the College during University Full Term. Family accommodation is provided.
The post was previously advertised with an age limit of 63 years at the time of appointment due to such a provision being a requirement of the College's Statutes. The College is in the process of amending its Statutes to remove the age limit and accordingly the post is being re-advertised without an age limit.
