Philosophy Tripos, 2008

The Faculty Board of Philosophy give notice that, with effect from the examinations to be held in 2008, the form of the examinations for certain papers for the Philosophy Tripos will be changed as follows:

Part II

Paper 1. Metaphysics

Candidates are asked to answer three questions out of at least ten set.

Candidates taking Paper 9 may not answer questions in this paper on Wittgenstein's Tractatus which will be marked with an asterisk (*).

In accordance with Regulation 9(b), candidates offering Paper 12 and a dissertation on the Philosophy of Mind may still take Paper 1, but shall not answer any question on the topics which fall under the headings with a dagger (†), i.e.

†Knowledge of other minds: the roles of analogy, of theory, and of simulation; the nature of psychological concepts.

†First person thought: the nature of consciousness, the privacy of the mental; the first person authority.
