CHICHELE PROFESSORSHIP OF SOCIAL AND POLITICAL THEORY

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 October 2008, or as soon as possible thereafter. The Professorship will be held in the Department of Politics and International Relations and is attached to a non-stipendiary Professorial Fellowship at All Souls College.

The University is seeking an outstanding scholar, with a distinguished research profile in social and political theory. The successful candidate must have an international reputation for innovative research in this area, broadly defined.

The Professor will be expected to engage in research and to lecture and give instruction in social and political theory. He or she will be able to provide academic leadership, to demonstrate excellence in teaching and supervision at the graduate level, and to contribute to the development of research activity within the Department.

RESEARCH EDITOR/PUBLISHING MANAGER AT THE VOLTAIRE FOUNDATION

The Complete Works of Voltaire/Euvres complètes de Voltaire is the first ever critical edition of Voltaire's complete writings in French which will number over 200 volumes on completion in 2018 and is widely acclaimed as the definitive edition which will last for posterity.

The Voltaire Foundation is seeking someone who is totally fluent in both spoken and written English and French to work closely with academic editors and to take responsibility for various stages of the editing and publication of individual texts and volumes. This is an opportunity to be fully involved in one of the most prestigious research projects in French literature currently being undertaken in Britain.
