Historical Tripos, Part II

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 314)

With effect from 1 October 2007

Regulation 17(c).

The regulation has been amended to give notice of the availability of guidelines about the presentation and length of the Part II dissertation.

(c) A dissertation shall be not less than 7,000 words and not more than 15,000 words in length, shall show knowledge of primary sources, and shall give full reference to all sources used.1 Each dissertation shall be typewritten unless previous permission has been obtained from the Faculty Board through a candidate's Director of Studies to present the dissertation in manuscript. Candidates will be required to provide a brief synopsis of the contents of the dissertation, and to declare that the dissertation is their own original work and that it does not contain material already used to any substantial extent for a comparable purpose.

1 Detailed guidelines about the presentation and length of the dissertation are available in a document issued by the Faculty Board.

The Faculty Board are satisfied that no candidate's preparation for the examination in 2008 will be affected by this amendment.
