St John's and St Catherine's Colleges

STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN GERMAN

The two Colleges intend to appoint a stipendiary Lecturer in German for one year from 1 January 2008. This is a new, fixed-term position created as a result of the permanent tutor's leave arrangements. The successful candidate will be required to provide up to eight hours of undergraduate tutorials and classes a week during term, divided between St John's College and St Catherine's College. Candidates must be able to teach translation into English; German grammar; first-year set texts; and a range of post-1730 literature, mainly for Papers VIII and X. The syllabuses for undergraduate courses can be found on the Medieval and Modern Languages Faculty's website at http://www.mod-langs.ox.ac.uk/. The Lecturer will also be expected to assume responsibility for administrative and pastoral duties and to share in the undergraduate admissions process.

The salary will be £25,135 a year, with three lunches and two dinners a week throughout the year. A research allowance is also available.
