Director of the Health and Safety Division: Notice

The University's Health and Safety Division is a key unit, with a remit to provide high-quality services to assist the University and its staff in developing health and safety policy and practice, and to oversee operational health and safety management.

An experienced individual is sought to lead the Division. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a successful record of leading a sizeable, complex, and high-profile service delivery operation; possess excellent management capabilities, alongside proven and well-developed interpersonal skills in order to interact with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders. The role reports to the Registrary of the University, with direct access to the Vice-Chancellor, the principal officer of the University. The vacancy arises because of the retirement of the present Director, Mrs Sara Cooper, from 31 December 2007.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, be a Registered Safety Practitioner, and have other relevant senior safety qualifications, as well as having substantial experience of leadership at an appropriate level, preferably within higher education or research.
