PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATOR

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of the strategy, policies, and practices of Oxford's intercollegiate community, which plays a key role in the life of one of the world's leading universities. The post-holder will be responsible to the Chairman of the Conference of Colleges, the body which draws together College opinions and which, itself and through its sub-committee structure, deals with the range of issues of concern to Oxford's Colleges individually and collectively.

The Principal Administrator will be the main point of contact between the Conference Secretariat and the University administration, and will be expected to make a major contribution to the work of Oxford's Colleges at a time of considerable change. In an environment characterized by intellectual challenge and considerable internal sensitivities, the Principal Administrator will be expected to operate at a sophisticated level, piloting the progress of intercollegiate business and facilitating relationships at a senior level with University administrators, against the background of the particular nature and needs of the collegiate University.

Applicants should have a strong commitment to the academic values of Oxford University and its Colleges. They should have an outstanding background in the effective management of administrative business in a complex environment, and be able to appreciate the particular needs of the Oxford Colleges, individually and collectively, working effectively with a range of senior colleagues. The successful applicant will also have strong personal qualities, interpersonal skills, and also organizational and management skills with relevant administrative experience in an appropriate setting, in order to be able both to run the Conference Secretariat efficiently and to ensure effective liaison with all of the Colleges as well as with senior colleagues in the University administration. The salary range is £45,397 to £52,628 a year, with a discretionary range to £57,508 a year.
