RESEARCH ASSISTANTS IN THE FACULTY OF HISTORY: EIGHTEENTH-CENTURY BRITISH HISTORY

Applications are invited for the posts of Research Assistant to work on the project 'Scottish Towns and Urban Society in the Enlightenment, c.1748-1820'.

The project, funded by an Arts and Humanities Research Council Research Grant and directed by Dr Bob Harris, is a collaborative project with the University of Dundee, looking at a crucial phase in Scottish urbanization. The successful candidates will be expected to play a key part in analysing and presenting the data on which the main outputs of the project will be based.

One full-time post (two part-time appointments may be considered) will be based at Oxford and one full-time post (two part-time appointments may be considered) will be based at Dundee (Ref: ASS/1833). The project is due to commence 1 October 2007.

Applicants to all posts should hold a good first degree in History. A Ph.D. Degree in history and expertise in eighteenth-century British history and preferably urban history would be an advantage, as would a familiarity with Scottish national and local archives. The salary will be in the range of £23,002 to £25,889 (Grade 6 or Grade 7 depending on qualifications and experience). The posts are available for a fixed term of three years.
