Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos, Part IB and Part II

The papers available to candidates in Dutch, French, and German and from other Triposes have been amended as follows:

With effect from 1 October 2007

SCHEDULE Ib

French

Paper 12 (A special subject in French culture: early modern thought) has been added to the list of papers available in Part IB. This paper may be replaced by a portfolio of essays under Regulation 23 of the Tripos.

SCHEDULE D (Papers from other Triposes that may be taken in Part II)

Historical Tripos, Part II

Paper 22 (A subject in English or European or English and European history in the modern period specified by the Faculty Board from time to time) has been added to the list of papers that may be borrowed from Part II of this Tripos.

With effect from 1 October 2008

SCHEDULE B

Dutch

Papers Du. 3-6 have been renumbered as Du. 4-7 and a new Paper Du. 3 has been introduced as follows:

Du. 3. Introduction to the language and literature of the Low Countries.

German

Papers Ge. 7 and 8 have been retitled and a new Paper Ge. 15 has been introduced as follows:

Ge. 7. Introduction to the history of the German language.
Ge. 8. German literature, thought, and history, from 1700 to 1815, including Goethe works to 1832.
Ge. 15. Modern German cultures of performance.

Paper Ge. 11 (The history of the German language) has been suspended until 1 October 2009, however the Faculty Board have agreed that optional dissertations may be submitted for this paper.

Comparative Studies

Paper CS 2 (The Germanic languages) has been suspended until further notice.

SCHEDULE Ib

Certain entries have been amended so as to read as follows:

Dutch: Du. 1*, 2, 3, 5, 7.

German

By replacing Ge. 11 by Ge. 7.

SCHEDULE II

Certain entries have been amended so as to read as follows:

Dutch: Du. 4, 5, 6, 7.

German

By inserting Paper Ge. 15 and suspending Paper Ge. 11 until 1 October 2009.

Comparative Studies

By suspending Paper CS 2 until further notice.

SCHEDULE D (Papers from other Triposes that may be taken in Part II)

Under Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic Tripos, Part II, by inserting Paper 11 (Germanic philology) of this Tripos.

With effect from 1 October 2009

The title of Paper Ge. 11 has been amended from 'The history of the German language' to 'Aspects of the history of the German language'.
