REGULATIONS FOR EXAMINATIONS: NOTICES BY THE GENERAL BOARD

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Archaeological and Anthropological Tripos, Part I

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 240)

With effect from 1 October 2008

The regulations for Part I of the Tripos have been amended to include papers on the Ancient and Near East as follows:

Regulation 12.

By amending the regulation so as to read:

12. The scheme of examination for Part I shall be as follows:
 Paper 1. The development of human society.
 Paper 2. Humans in biological perspective.
 Paper 3. Human societies: the comparative perspective (also serves as Paper 3 of Part I of the Social and Political Sciences Tripos).
 Paper 4A. Being human: an interdisciplinary approach.
 Paper 4B. Modern societies (Paper 2 of Part I of the Social and Political Sciences Tripos).
 Paper 4C. The analysis of modern politics I (Paper 1 of Part I of the Social and Political Sciences Tripos).
 Paper 4D. Society, interaction, and the individual (Paper 4 of Part I of the Social and Political Sciences Tripos).
 Paper 5. Introduction to the cultures of Egypt and Mesopotamia.
 Paper 6. Akkadian I.
 Paper 7. Egyptian language I.

A candidate for Part I shall offer one of the following:
Either (i)   Papers 1, 2, and 3, and one of Papers 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, and 5;
or (ii)   Paper 5; Papers 6 or 7; two further papers chosen from Papers 1, 2, and 3;
or (iii)   Paper 5; Papers 6 and 7; and one further paper chosen from Papers 1, 2, and 3.
