Clinical Lecturer/Specialist Registrar in Diabetes/Endocrinology in the School of Clinical Medicine

The Department of Clinical Biochemistry seeks a Clinical Lecturer/Specialist Registrar in Diabetes/Endocrinology, to take up appointment as soon as possible. The person appointed will be of the standing required for an honorary contract of service with the NHS Executive Eastern Region as a Specialist Registrar/ST3-7 in Diabetes/Endocrinology and will be required to undertake clinical work, teaching, and research. Applicants are expected to hold a research qualification (Ph.D. or M.D.). The post is also approved for dual training in General Internal Medicine (GIM) if required. Teaching will include acting as a Clinical Supervisor to a group of students. The appointment will be for four years with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The salary will be in the range of £29,364 to £50,972 a year.

Clinical Lecturer/Specialist Registrar in Haematology in the School of Clinical Medicine

Applications are invited for a Clinical Lecturer in Haematology. This is a protected academic training post in a world-class research environment. Applicants will be able to consolidate their research experience and complete their clinical training in the context of a first-class haematology training rotation. Applicants will be expected to hold an appropriate research qualification (Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent).

Administrative Officers (School Finance Advisers) in the Finance Division of the University Offices

Applications are invited for two School Finance Advisers for the Schools of Humanities and Social Sciences and Technology.

Reporting directly to the School Finance Manager, the main purpose of the role is to provide support in preparing budgetary and financial management information for the School, as well as providing financial advice and support to Departments and Faculties within the School. This involves working closely with staff at all levels across the School.

The successful candidates will ideally be working towards a recognized professional accounting qualification and have experience, preferably in a large organization, possess the ability to show great initiative, be excellent communicators, and have a high level of analytical and IT skills. Appointment will be to the retiring age subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. The salary will be in the range of £24,402 to £31,840 a year.

Temporary Lectureship in Sanskrit in the Faculty of East Asian and Middle Eastern Studies

Applications are invited for a Temporary Lectureship in Sanskrit. Candidates working in any area of Sanskrit are invited to apply, but preference may be given to scholars of Classical Sanskrit with expertise in Indian intellectual and/or literary traditions (shastra and kavya). The University is committed to raising the profile of Sanskrit in Cambridge, and the successful candidate will be expected to play an active part in this. Applicants should have a strong commitment to research and a publication record and teaching experience appropriate to career stage. Experience in working from Sanskrit manuscripts and knowledge of other Classical Indian languages would be advantageous, but are not essential.

Appointment will be for a period of five years. The successful candidate will be expected to take up appointment on or before 1 October 2007. The salary will be in the range of £32,795 to £41,544 a year.

Research Assistant and Research Associate in the Faculty of Economics

The Electricity Policy Research Group (EPRG) in the Faculty of Economics wishes to appoint a Research Assistant and a Research Associate to work on two UK Research Council-funded projects: 'Energy, Emissions and Technology Policy in the European and Global Context' and 'Economics of Sustainable Power Generation'.

Research Assistant

Applicants are expected to hold a first degree or Master's, with a strong quantitative background, preferably in economics. Experience of project management or consultancy work and familiarity with Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheet and database software would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will work in three areas with similar time requirements: (i) research support involving literature surveys, data collection, and editing; (ii) jointly pursued research projects; (iii) administrative support for meetings, workshops, and management of the EPRG.

This is a fixed-term post for one year from 1 October 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter, based at the Faculty of Economics. The salary will be on University grade 5, starting at £21,682 a year.

Research Associate

Applicants are expected to have a strong background in economics, preferably with Ph.D. Degree or a record of publication in academic journals in applied microeconomics, industrial organization, or energy economics. Economic intuition, quantitative skills, and a motivation to cover both applied and theoretical research are desirable.

The successful candidate will both independently pursue original research in the areas covered by the project and actively contribute to research projects of the EPRG and of the wider consortium.

This is a fixed-term post for one year (with the possibility of extension) from 1 October 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter, and will be based at the Faculty of Economics. The salary will be on University grade 7, starting at £25,134 a year.
