University Equine Surgeon in the Department of Veterinary Medicine

The University Equine Surgeon will be appointed from 1 October 2007. This is a senior clinical appointment, and the post-holder will have primary responsibility for the equine surgical caseload within the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital. After an initial settling in period he/she will take on the role of team leader in the equine clinic. He/she will, with the other equine clinicians, be responsible for the teaching of undergraduate students with a particular emphasis on either soft tissue or orthopaedic surgery, according to his/her clinical bias. The post-holder will provide clinical instruction, participate in the service work of the Hospital, and facilitate the research activities of the Department. The salary will be £49,607 a year.
   Applicants should have a veterinary degree registrable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons; and have completed a suitable surgical training or residency programme and hold an RCVS Diploma and/or European College Diploma in an Equine Surgical discipline. The successful candidate will have substantial practical experience in either equine soft tissue or equine orthopaedic surgery.

Clinical Lecturer/Specialist Registrar in Medicine

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to take up appointment as soon as possible. The person appointed will be of the standing required for an honorary contract of service with the NHS Executive Eastern Region as a Specialist Registrar and will be required to undertake clinical work, teaching, and research. The post is approved for training in General Internal Medicine (GIM) including acute general medicine with metabolic medicine. Teaching will include acting as a Clinical Supervisor to a group of students. The appointment will be for four years with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. Isaac Newton Trust College Teaching Officer in the Faculty of English

In association with the Isaac Newton Trust, the Faculty of English wishes to appoint a Newton Trust College Teaching Officer in any field of English Literature for five years from 1 October 2007.
    Under the terms of the scheme, Newton Trust College Teaching Officers (CTOs) must be Fellows of Colleges who are non-University Teaching Officers but receive their prime stipend from their College for teaching undergraduates. A Newton Trust CTO is appointed as an Affiliated Lecturer and is expected to give 24 lectures a year in the Faculty, to examine from time to time, to supervise research students, and to be involved in Faculty teaching arrangements.
