COLLEGE STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN PHILOSOPHY

St John's College intends to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Philosophy for one year from 1 October 2007. This is a new, fixed-term position created to provide maternity leave cover. The successful candidate will be required to provide up to eight hours of undergraduate tutorials a week during term. Candidates must be able to teach Logic and General Philosophy in the first year (Prelims) and for Finals, History of Philosophy from Descartes to Kant and at least one of Ethics and Knowledge and Reality. The syllabuses for undergraduate courses can be found on the Philosophy Faculty's website at http://www.philosophy.ox.ac.uk/Course_Descriptions.shtml. The Lecturer will also be expected to assume responsibility for administrative and pastoral duties and to share in the undergraduate admissions process.

The salary will be £25,135 a year, with three lunches and two dinners a week throughout the year. A research allowance is also available.
