Lucy Cavendish College

PRESIDENT

The Fellows of Lucy Cavendish College intend to elect a Head of House to succeed the current President, Dame Veronica Sutherland, who retires in September 2008.

Lucy Cavendish College holds a unique place in the University of Cambridge. It is a centre of academic excellence that enables women, of different ages and from diverse backgrounds, to maximize their potential, broaden their expectations, and enhance their contribution to society. Of its 220 students, approximately half are graduate students and half are mature undergraduates (21 years and over at matriculation).

The President, who is required by College statute to be a woman,1 will provide leadership for a forward-looking, academic community in which decisions are made collectively. Ready to champion the College's evolving aims and its considerable achievements, she will be the public face of the College, promoting its profile and advancing its endowments.

Expressions of interest and suggestions for possible candidates would be welcomed, in confidence, by 18 May 2007. These should be addressed to the Vice-President, Dr Anna Sapir Abulafia, Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, CB3 0BU (e-mail presidentialsearch@lucy-cav.cam.ac.uk). Further information about the College and particulars about the Presidency may be found at http://www.lucy-cav.cam.ac.uk/.
