PROJECT ASSISTANT

International collaborative project - Corpus-Stanford Parker-On-The-Web

Corpus Christi College was founded in 1352 by the townspeople of Cambridge. It provides an academic and residential environment for approximately 75 Fellows and 400 students, and employs approximately 120 staff.

The College has an opportunity for a Project Assistant on this international collaborative project. The aim of the project is to put digitized images of all the Parker Library manuscripts on the web, together with an advanced scholarly apparatus. Funding has been provided jointly by the Andrew W. Mellon and Delmas Foundations.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience of the use and handling of manuscripts, and be qualified to research degree level or equivalent in medieval or early modern studies. Computer literacy and some experience with HTML or XML are essential. Duties will include the production of bibliographic records, descriptive metadata encoding in XML, and the reconciliation of catalogue information with manuscript images. The role will be based in the Parker Library, Corpus Christi College.

This fixed-term appointment will initially be for six months from 1 June 2007, or commencing as soon as possible after that date, with the possibility of renewal for up to two more years, should further funding be received.
