Historical Tripos, Part II, 2008: Amendment

The Faculty Board of History give notice that they have amended their announcement of Special and Specified Subjects in respect of Specified Paper 18 of Part II of the Historical Tripos, 2008 (Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 304-307, Reporter, 2005-06, p. 724) as follows:

By amending the title of Paper 18:

From     The cultural history of early modern cities, 1450-1789

to           Gender in early modern Europe

Candidates for Part II in 2008, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper falling mainly in the period before 1750, may meet the requirement to take a pre-1750 paper in Part II by offering one of the Special Subjects A, B, C, D, E, F, G, I, and J or by offering Paper 3 or one of the Papers 10, 12, 13, 14, 18, 28, or a dissertation, provided that its subject falls mainly in the period before 1750.

Candidates for Part II in 2008, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper falling mainly in the period after 1750, may meet the requirement to take a post-1750 paper in Part II by offering one of the Special Subjects H, K, L, M, and Q or by offering Papers 4 or 5 or one of the Papers 6, 7, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 29, or a dissertation, provided that its subject falls mainly in the period after 1750.

Candidates for Part II in 2008, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper in European History, may meet the requirement to take a European History paper in Part II by offering one of the following papers: 12, 14, 18, 20, 22, 23.

The Faculty Board are satisfied that no candidate's preparation will be affected by this amendment.
