STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN VICTORIAN AND MODERN ENGLISH LITERATURE

Pembroke College invites applications for a fixed-term nine-hour Stipendiary Lectureship in 19th- and 20th-century English from 1 October 2007 until 31 July 2008. The successful candidate will primarily teach the following papers: Victorian Literature (1832-1900), Modern Literature (1900 to the present day), and either Introduction to Literary Studies and/or English Literature 1740-1832 (Paper 6). In addition, he or she will be expected to set and mark College examinations, to participate in the routine administration of English, to take part in undergraduate admissions, and to assist in the pastoral care of undergraduates reading the subject.

Candidates should have a good first degree in English and be working for, or have already obtained, a doctorate in English. Some teaching experience would be an advantage. The salary for the post is on a scale from £16,749 to £18,851 a year, depending on qualifications and experience. A Research Allowance and Membership of USS are offered. The Lecturer will be entitled to two lunches and two dinners a week free of charge during weeks 0-9 of each term.

STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Pembroke College wishes to appoint a six-hour Stipendiary Lecturer in International Relations for one year from 1 October 2007. In addition to tutorial teaching, the Lecturer will be required to work in conjunction with the Fellow in Politics in arranging teaching and in the admissions process.
