University Lectureship in Drama Education in the Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education invites applications for the full-time post of University Lecturer in Drama Education. The successful applicant will be required to take responsibility for Drama teaching to a highly qualified and enthusiastic cohort of students taking joint honours in English and Drama with Education Studies for the undergraduate degree, to contribute to aspects of the Faculty's extensive programme of M.Phil. teaching on the Arts, Culture, and Education course or in the area of Critical Approaches to Children's Literature, and to undertake Ph.D. supervision in one or both of these areas.

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for a probationary period of five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is currently £32,795 to £41,544 a year.

Computer Officer (Systems Software Development Manager) in the Department of Engineering

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Systems Software Development Manager in the Department of Engineering. The successful candidate will take up the appointment as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will be a senior and experienced computer professional capable of providing technical and project management and interaction with project sponsors, as well as hands-on technical work and development of a highly complex nature.

He/she will provide leadership, management, and technical expertise to enable the development of software systems (primarily web-based and on Linux servers) to support the Department's administration, teaching, and research. This includes the management of the full development cycle for software projects, from initial technical and financial feasibility assessment, requirements gathering, and user interface design through planning and implementation to training, delivery, and in-service maintenance. The post-holder will also be expected to maintain and develop similar existing internally developed software systems.

Appointment will be to the retiring age subject to the satisfactory completion of a nine-month probationary period. The current pensionable scale of stipends is in the range of £32,795 to £41,544 a year.
