JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWHIP IN RENAISSANCE ENGLISH

Wadham College invites applications for a Junior Research Fellowship in the field of Renaissance English. Junior Research Fellowships are intended to provide opportunities for outstanding academics at the beginning of their careers and the post allows for a combination of both research and teaching; the latter at 50% of a full-time stint.

The successful candidate will be elected to a Junior Research Fellowship from 1 October 2007, for one year in the first instance, and the post is renewable for a further two years. In no circumstances will it be renewed beyond the end of the third year. The stipend will be on the first point of the University's Recommended Scale for Fixed-Term Fellows, presently £23,692 a year.

The Fellow will be expected to engage in major doctoral or postdoctoral research for the period of the post. Candidates must have a strong academic record; be approaching the end of their doctoral research or have begun postdoctoral study; have research expertise as demonstrated by publications; and have a coherent plan of research for the duration of the Fellowship. The Fellow will also be required to give six hours a week of tutorials during the eight weeks of full term, averaged over the year, taking responsibility for the period papers 1509-1642, 1642-1740, Shakespeare, and those options taken as Special Authors or Special Topics which they are able to teach.

Further details may be obtained from the College website at http://www.wadham.ox.ac.uk/, or from the College's Tutorial Office (e-mail jessica.begon@wadh.ox.ac.uk). The closing date for applications is 15 March 2007.
