Clinical Lecturer/Specialist Registrar in Medicine

The School of Clinical Medicine seeks a Clinical Lecturer/Specialist Registrar in Medicine, to take up appointment as soon as possible. The Clinical Lecturer will be required to engage in teaching, research, and clinical work, and to act as a Clinical Supervisor to a group of students throughout the clinical course. Applicants should have appropriate training and experience in General Medicine and teaching skills, and should be of the standing required for an honorary contract of service with the appropriate NHS authority as a Specialist Registrar (SpR). Applicants should hold a Gastroenterology training number and have completed a postgraduate thesis. The appointment will be for four years. Application during this period for external research funding will be encouraged. The appointment will be primarily based at the Cambridge University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The salary will be in the range of £28,930 to £50,219 a year.

Senior Language Teacher in English for Academic Purposes in the Language Centre

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Language Teacher in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in the Language Centre. This position provides an opportunity to play a dynamic and innovative role in the field of EAP in a Centre committed to combining sound pedagogical principles with the use of learning technologies.

The post requires a high level of initiative in being both proactive and reactive to the needs arising within the University; a high degree of reflection on the language teaching/learning process; experience in communicative language teaching methods and the use of authentic materials, combined with the appropriate use of learning technologies.

Candidates should have a wide experience of successful teaching at the level of academic discourse and conventions, of material development, especially on-line multi-media development using authentic material, and of modern approaches to language teaching and learning. A postgraduate qualification in Education or Applied Linguistics combined with experience of the UK higher education sector would be a definite advantage.

The post is for three years in the first instance. It is hoped that the successful candidate will be able to commence employment as soon as possible. The salary will be in the range of £28,849 to £38,772 depending on experience. An appointment based on a job-share arrangement would also be considered.
