University Lecturers

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for a probationary period of five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is currently £32,471 to £41,133 a year and, from 1 August 2007, will be £33,779 to £42,791 a year. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Senior Lecturer is currently £43,638 to £46,295.

University Lectureships/Senior Lectureships in the Faculty of Education

Applications are invited for two University Lectureships and two University Senior Lectureships in the Faculty of Education. These positions offer outstanding opportunities for innovative, research-active educators to join a leading national and international centre for educational research, teacher development, and the study of education. The posts are available to be filled as soon as possible and preferably before October 2007.

Each successful candidate will be expected to make significant contributions to the Faculty of Education's teaching and research relating to school and teacher development in one or more of the following areas: educational leadership and school improvement, inclusive and special education, pedagogical innovation, teacher education and development.

University Lectureships in the Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law is seeking appropriately qualified individuals for appointment to two University Lectureships in Law from 1 September 2007. In one post, preference will be given to candidates whose teaching and research interests lie in criminal law and/or criminal justice more broadly. The other post is advertised without preference as to field. Those appointed will teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, conduct and supervise research, and participate in the general work of the Faculty. University Lectureships in Statistics

The EPSRC has awarded the University of Cambridge a grant of £2.3m under the Science and Innovation Scheme for development of Statistics. As part of this programme, applications are invited for up to three University Lectureships in Statistics, to be held in the Statistical Laboratory and filled by 1 September 2007 or by negotiation.

The Statistical Laboratory is a sub-department of the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, and gained the highest grade 5* in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise. Information about the Laboratory can be found at http://www.statslab.cam.ac.uk/.

Fixed-term Lectureship in Classics (Linguistics and Philology) in conjunction with a Bye-Fellowship at Pembroke College

The Faculty of Classics is seeking to appoint to a Lectureship in Classical Linguistics and Philology from 1 October 2007, for a period of two years. This post is open to anyone with a primary research interest in classical linguistics and comparative philology, but might be particularly attractive to those in the earlier stages of their careers. The salary will be in the range of £32,471 to £41,133 a year.

The successful applicant will benefit from the world-class facilities offered by the University and the generous support of research and teaching provided by the Faculty. The Faculty currently teaches approximately 250 undergraduates reading Classics and almost 100 graduate students (reading for Master's and doctoral degrees). It is one of the leading international centres for Classics, with some 40 teachers in Faculty and College posts, and is a major centre for research in classical linguistics. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching at undergraduate level and to participate in M.Phil. teaching as required. In addition the successful candidate will be expected to direct studies in Classics for Pembroke College and to undertake an average of six hours' College-based teaching ('supervision') a week. This work will be remunerated separately at the usual College rates.
