St Catharine's College

CHAPLAIN

Applications are invited from graduates who are ordained priests of the Church of England (or of a Church in full communion with it) for the post of Chaplain, for three years (with the possibility of an extension for a further two years) from a date not later than 1 September 2007.

The Chaplain is fully responsible, subject to the direction of the Governing Body, for the administration and organization of the life of the Chapel, and for leading its services, both regular and occasional. The College has a strong Choral tradition, and it is expected that the Chaplain will maintain and encourage this, in collaboration with the Director of College Music. The Chaplain is also expected to be pastorally available to all members of the College community, regardless of faith.

The Chaplain will become a Fellow and member of the Governing Body. He/she will also have the opportunity to pursue scholarly interests and, if appropriate, will be encouraged to undertake a limited amount of teaching. A stipend currently linked to the Ely Diocesan scale for incumbents is offered, together with free meals at times of the year when the College kitchens are open. Rent-free furnished accommodation will be made available.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, together with a short supporting statement setting out their suitability for the post and the date on which they would be available to take it up. The names of two referees should also be included, who should be asked by the applicant to send their references to the Master's Secretary, St Catharine's College, Cambridge, CB2 1RL (e-mail masters.secretary@caths.cam.ac.uk). Both applications and references should be received by the Master's Secretary (from whom further details may be obtained) by 23 February 2007. Further details are also available on the College website at http://www.caths.cam.ac.uk/. Interviews will take place during the week of 12 March.
