NUMATA PROFESSORSHIP OF BUDDHIST STUDIES

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable with effect from 1 October 2007, or such date as may be arranged. This new Professorship has been created by means of a generous donation from the Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai (BDK) of Tokyo, held in trust by Balliol College, and is named after the BDK's founder, Mr Yehan Numata. The University interprets Buddhist Studies widely, to include all historical fields and all relevant academic disciplines; expertise in at least two of the canonical languages of Buddhism is expected. A non-stipendiary Fellowship at Balliol College is attached to the Professorship.

ERNEST BUTTEN PROFESSORSHIP OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 September 2007 or such later date as may be arranged. The Professorship will be held in the Saïd Business School (http://www.sbs.ox.ac.uk/) and is attached to a non-stipendiary Fellowship at Balliol College.

The University is seeking an outstanding scholar, with a distinguished research profile in Management Studies. He or she will have an international reputation for innovative research in this field, broadly defined. Applications are encouraged from individuals working in the areas of Accounting, Finance, International Business, Marketing, Operations Management/Decision Science, Organizational Behaviour, or Strategy.

The Professor will be expected to engage in research and to lecture and give instruction in Management Studies. He or she will be able to provide academic leadership and to demonstrate teaching excellence at the graduate level. The successful candidate will also be expected to act as Director of Studies in Management Studies at Balliol College, and to play a role in the selection and education of Management students in the College.

UNIVERSITY LECTURESHIP IN EIGHTEENTH-CENTURY ENGLISH LITERATURE

The University, in association with St Anne's College, proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in eighteenth-century English Literature from 1 September 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter. Applications from candidates with research interests in prose fiction would be particularly welcomed. This is a senior post: the succesful candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarship and will be able to provide leadership in the field, with particular reference to graduate study and research. The post will be offered in association with a Tutorial Fellowship at St Anne's College, for which the post-holder will take responsibility for the teaching of English Literature in the period 1642-1832. The salary will be in the range of £37,642 to £50,589 a year (grade 10a).
