FIXED-TERM DARBY FELLOWSHIP IN ENGLISH

Lincoln College invites applications from candidates, either men or women, in the early stages of an academic career who will normally have either recently obtained their doctorate, or be in the final stages of completing it, for a five-year fixed-term, non-renewable Darby Fellowship in English with effect from 1 October 2007. The Darby Fellow will be required to provide up to twelve weighted hours' tutorial teaching a week, averaged over the academical year.

The Darby Fellow will be required to teach Old English and Middle English to first-year undergraduates for Honour Moderations, and papers covering the period 1100 to 1509, and 'The English Language' to the second and third year for the Final Honour School of English Language and Literature. The Fellow will also be required to organize teaching for those candidates who opt for Course II, the specialist course in Old and Middle English, teaching those papers which fall within his/her competence and arranging teaching for those which do not. The Fellow may also act as College Adviser to a limited number of postgraduate students in English in the College, who will normally be supervised elsewhere within the University.

The salary offered currently ranges from £25,632 to £29,715 a year, plus Full Common Room rights, hospitality credit, access to the College Research and Equipment Funds, and membership of USS pension scheme.
