Corpus Christi College

STIPENDIARY JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN HISTORY

Corpus Christi College proposes to elect a stipendiary Junior Research Fellow in Modern History, tenable for three years with effect from 1 October 2007. The appointee will be expected to teach for up to four hours a week each term and to engage in research at postdoctoral level. In making this appointment, the College's decision will be based primarily on the quality of each candidate's research and on his/her potential for an academic career, but preference will, in general, be given to applicants whose teaching can supplement that of the College's History Fellows. Those specializing in British or European History since 1700 are particularly encouraged to apply. Areas presently taught by Corpus Fellows include British History 1000-1700, European History 300-1525, and American History since 1776.

The present stipend is £17,670 a year, plus a housing allowance of £3,383 (it may be possible to offer accommodation in lieu). The Fellow will also be entitled to full lunching and dining rights and will receive research (£510) and hospitality (£270) allowances. These are current figures. Applicants will normally be expected to have submitted for a higher research degree before taking up the Junior Research Fellowship.

Applications (six copies, please), including a curriculum vitae, a description of proposed research in not more than 1,000 words, a list of publications, and the names of two referees, should be sent to the College Secretary, Corpus Christi College, Oxford, OX1 4JF, by 5 January 2007. It is the responsibility of candidates to ensure that their referees write directly to (or e-mail) the College Secretary (tel. 01865 276737, e-mail andrew.garlick@ccc.ox.ac.uk) by the same date. Further particulars can be downloaded from http://www.ccc.ox.ac.uk/vacancies/academic.php or, in case of difficulty, may be obtained from the College Secretary. Interviews are expected to be held on 9 February 2007.

Corpus Christi College is an equal opportunities employer.
