Examination in Archaeology for the degree of Master of Philosophy

With effect from 1 October 2006

Regulation 1.

The requirements for the thesis offered under all Options A-C have been amended by replacing in each case the words 'including footnotes and appendices, but excluding bibliography' by the words 'including footnotes, but excluding appendices and bibliography'.

Option B

The scheme of the examination under Option B (Archaeological Heritage and Museums) has been amended to clarify the requirements of the practical work. The regulations have been amended as follows:

By amending the final paragraph under this option so as to read:

A candidate who chooses Option B shall undertake practical work during a period of experience in the University Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, usually, though not necessarily, in the form of an exhibition. The length of the period of the practical work shall be determined by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Archaeology and Anthropology. A record of this practical work, bearing the signature of the Museum Curator under whose supervision it was performed, shall be presented by the candidate for the inspection of the Examiners.

The students who are currently following this course were informed that the changes in regulations were already in effect and have been preparing for the examination under the regulations as set out above.
