MONTAGUE BURTON PROFESSORSHIP OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 September 2007. The Professorship will be held in the Department of Politics and International Relations and is attached to a non-stipendiary Fellowship at Balliol College.

It is expected that the current post-holder's tenure as Montague Burton Professor of International Relations will end on 31 December 2007 and it is hoped that the successful candidate will take up post from 1 September 2007. He or she will be known as Professor of International Relations and Montague Burton Professor of International Relations-elect during the period of overlap.

The University is seeking an outstanding scholar, with a distinguished research profile in International Relations. He or she will have an international reputation for innovative research in this field, broadly defined, and the ability to engage in the development and leadership of research activity within the Department. The Professor will be expected to engage in research and to lecture and give instruction on the theory and practice of International Relations. He or she will be able to demonstrate teaching excellence at the graduate level, and must be prepared to share in the governance and leadership of the Department.

HEATHER PROFESSORSHIP OF MUSIC

Applications are invited for the Heather Professorship of Music, tenable from 1 October 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter. The University seeks candidates with an outstanding international reputation in musical scholarship (encompassing one or more of: history, theory, analysis, composition, performance, and ethnomusicology). The Professorship will be held in conjunction with a Professorial Fellowship at Wadham College. The Heather Professor is expected to provide research leadership, and to be involved in the strategic development of the Faculty.
