Central Administration - Reviews of the Health and Safety Division and the Estate Management and Building Service: Notice

The Council have received the reports of the Review Committees for the Health and Safety Division and for the Estate Management and Building Service (see Reporter, 2004-05, pp. 474, 582). The reports are published together with the Registrary's response for the information of the University.

The terms of reference for the two Reviews were as follows:

Review Committee for the Health and Safety Division

  1. The Division's performance and achievements;
  2. Future plans, staffing levels, and budgets;
  3. The administrative performance of the Division, including effectiveness in use of resource, planning, staff development, and quality assurance;
  4. The views of internal and external users of the Division;
  5. How the Division's performance compares with best practice in other leading UK universities;
  6. Value for money.

Review Committee for the Estate Management and Building Service

  1. The Service's performance and achievements.
  2. Future plans, staffing levels, and budgets.
  3. The administrative performance of the Service, including effectiveness in use of resource, planning, staff development, and quality assurance.
  4. The views of internal and external users of the Service.
  5. How the Service's performance compares with best practice in other leading UK universities.
  6. Value for money.

In carrying out the Review, as well as looking at the overall performance of the Service, the Committee were expected to consider and report separately on the operational effectiveness of the major Sections of the Service.

The Council have accepted the recommendations in the reports and have authorized the Registrary and others concerned to take the necessary action to implement these recommendations.
