The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that she has received with gratitude the following benefactions:
(a) | a benefaction of £1m from the Board of Cambridge in America to support doctoral research students in the Computer Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The benefaction has been made possible following a major anonymous donation to Cambridge in America and will be used to establish a fund to be called the 2009 Computer Laboratory Research Students Fund; |
(b) | two benefactions to establish a fund to support chemists at the start of their academic careers to be called the Chemistry Next Generation Fund. One is from Dr P. J. Brown and is for £250,000 to be donated to the University over five years under Gift Aid arrangements. The second is from the Walters Kundert Charitable Trust also for £250,000, to be donated to the University over five years starting in 2007. |
The benefaction from the Walters Kundert Charitable Trust is in addition to the benefaction received to support research in Chemical Biology (see Reporter, 2004-05, p. 890 and 2005-06, p. 526).
The Council are submitting Graces to the Regent House (Graces 6 and 7, p. 972) for the approval of regulations to govern the proposed Funds.
