Administrative Officer, Grade II, in the Office of Communications (Education and Policy Communications Officer)

The University of Cambridge is one of the UK's leading universities and is looking for an ambitious communications professional with an interest in education and a background in policy analysis to join its talented team.

The post-holder will be responsible for communications and media relations for the key areas of access, admissions, and all other areas of education policy. In addition, the post-holder will be responsible for managing a political contact and influencing programme and be able to demonstrate skill in handling analysis of complex issues. The successful candidate will have at least three years' relevant experience and be able to demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure. A strong team player, he/she will also have good interpersonal and relationship-building skills and high professional standards. The salary scale for an Administrative Officer, Grade II, is currently £23,182 to £30,002 a year.

Group Leaders in the Institute for Stem Cell Biology (School of the Biological Sciences)

Under the leadership of Austin Smith and Fiona Watt, the Institute for Stem Cell Biology undertakes fundamental research in embryonic, foetal, and adult stem cell biology. The Institute (ISCB) is recruiting Group Leaders to lead independent ground-breaking research programmes focused on the biological properties and molecular regulation of vertebrate stem cells. The Institute seeks high-achieving individuals with original projects in basic stem and progenitor cell biology. Interest is welcomed from individuals aiming to move into the stem cell field from a background of attainment in related fields, such as development, cell cycle regulation, cellular biochemistry, or cancer biology.

Group Leaders will be expected to win competitive personal Fellowships awarded by external funding agencies. Successful Fellowship applicants will receive a Cambridge Next Generation Fellowship Prize to support their research. Expressions of interest are invited from individuals at all career stages. Candidate Principal and Senior Fellows will have an established international reputation for innovative research and should have demonstrable experience in team leadership. Candidate Career Development Fellows will have 3-6 years post-doctoral experience with original and creative achievements. Teaching Fellows and Teaching Assistants in the Faculty of Economics

Teaching Fellowships

Applications are invited for Teaching Fellows to provide teaching for undergraduates in the Faculty of Economics for one year beginning in October 2006. These are not full-time positions and candidates should normally be registered graduate students within the University of Cambridge.

Applicants should be able to provide supervisions for one of the following papers for Part IIA and Part IIB of the Economics Tripos:

Candidates appointed to Teaching Fellowships to provide supervisions for Part IIB of the Economics Tripos would be guaranteed to supervise either 30 or 60 hours for the paper for which they are appointed. The value of the Fellowships will be approximately £2,000 for each Fellowship for 60 hours of supervisions (i.e. a supplement of £33 an hour for the agreed teaching hours). This payment is a supplementary payment over and above normal payments for supervisions, which will be paid for by undergraduate Colleges in the usual manner.

Part IIA

Applications are invited for a Teaching Fellow in the Faculty for one year beginning in October 2006 for Part IIA: Paper 3, The theory and practice of econometrics. The Teaching Fellow is required to give fourteen lectures for this paper. The lectures are prepared in co-operation with the Lecturer and the paper co-ordinator, and are paid at the lecture rate of £69.50 (to be updated), excluding any preparation time.

Teaching Assistants

Teaching Assistants are required for M.Phil. and Diploma classes for 2006-07. Hours will vary from 12 to 40 teaching hours during the year for different courses, and are paid at the lecture rate (currently £69.50 an hour), excluding any preparation time.
