Peterhouse in association with the Newton Project

The Newton Project (http://www.newtonproject.ic.ac.uk/) seeks to engage an experienced translator (Latin to English) to work on the theological papers of Isaac Newton, under the supervision of Scott Mandelbrote (Peterhouse, Cambridge). The person commissioned will have a good undergraduate degree (at least) in Classics and ideally will also have experience in working with neo-Latin texts. A grant of up to £32,000 has been secured to fund this translation exercise, which it is envisioned may take two years. Payment will be made on receipt of invoices (at an all-inclusive hourly rate to be agreed) for work that is satisfactorily completed in the judgement of the editors. Access to library facilities in Cambridge will be arranged to facilitate the work of the translator. Enquiries may be directed to Scott Mandelbrote at Peterhouse, Cambridge, CB2 1RD (e-mail mll23@cam.ac.uk). Those wishing to be engaged to undertake this project should supply a curriculum vitae and references from two persons who are competent to judge their abilities as Latinists by 31 July 2006. Selection will be by unseen examination and interview.
