CORPUS-STANFORD PARKER-ON-THE-WEB PROJECT

Corpus Christi College is seeking to appoint to a position on this international collaborative project. The aim of the project is to put digitized images of all the Parker Library manuscripts on the web, together with an advanced scholarly apparatus. Funding has been provided by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The appointment will initially be for three months, commencing as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal for up to three more years, should further funding be received.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience of the use and handling of manuscripts, and a research degree in medieval or early modern studies. Computer literacy is essential, and some experience with HTML or XML would be an advantage. Duties will include the production of bibliographic records, descriptive metadata encoding in XML, and the reconciliation of catalogue information with manuscript images. The appointment will be made at an assistant level, and will be based in the Parker Library, Corpus Christi College.

Further particulars are available from Professor John Hatcher at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, CB2 1RH (e-mail mjh1001@cam.ac.uk). Candidates should request two referees to write in confidence to the same address. The closing date for applications is 30 June 2006.
