STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN CLASSICAL LANGUAGES AND LITERATURE

Merton College proposes to appoint a stipendiary Lecturer in Classical Languages and Literature to teach up to eight contact hours a week in full term during the academical year 2006-07. The Lecturer will be paid a stipend of £20,044 (2005-06 rates) with entitlement to join USS and membership of Common Room with the right to take meals free of charge.

The successful candidate should have completed (or be about to complete) his/her doctoral studies in a relevant field within Classics and will be able to teach effectively over a broad range of papers. In addition to his/her teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in the organization of subjects involving Classics within College and to lend pastoral support to students reading for these degrees. The closing date for receipt of applications is 9 June 2006.

STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN ENGLISH LITERATURE

The College proposes to appoint a stipendiary Lecturer in English Literature specializing in the medieval period, to teach up to six hours a week during the academical year 2006-07. The Lecturer will be paid a stipend of £10,022 (2005-06 rates) with entitlement to join USS and membership of Common Room with the right to take meals free of charge.

The successful candidate, who should have completed (or be about to complete) his/her doctoral studies in a relevant field within English Literature, will be able to teach for up to an average of six hours a week in each week of full term in Mods papers 3b (Middle English) and, ideally, 3a (Old English), Finals papers 3a and 3b, and some medieval options in papers 7 and 8. An ability to contribute to the teaching of Mods paper 1 would also be an advantage. In addition to his/her teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to help with the organization of subjects involving English within College, to lend pastoral support to students reading for these degrees, and to assist with admissions. The closing date for receipt of applications is 2 June 2006.

The College proposes to appoint a stipendiary Lecturer in Music to teach up to six hours a week in full term at Merton and University Colleges during the academical year 2006-07. The Lecturer will be paid a stipend of £10,022 (2005-06 rates) with entitlement to join USS and membership of Common Room with the right to take some meals free of charge.

The successful candidate should have completed (or be about to complete) his/her doctoral studies in a relevant field within Music and will be able to teach effectively over a broad range of papers. In addition to his/her teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in the organization of Music within the Colleges and to lend pastoral support to students. The closing date for receipt of applications is 9 June 2006.
