LEVY-PLUMB FUND FOR THE HUMANITIES: VISUAL ARTS STUDENTSHIP, 2006-07

The Managers of the Christ's College Levy-Plumb Fund for the Humanities invite applications from final-year undergraduate or graduate student members of the University under the age of twenty-five years for a one-year Studentship in the Visual Arts, tenable for the 2006-07 academical year. It is expected that the holder will be based in Christ's College from 1 October 2006 to mid-July 2007 (except where the holder opts to spend a period away from Cambridge, for example for travel or study in a foreign country).

The Studentship will be valued at £9,500 for the year, plus an additional sum of up to £1,250 to cover approved materials and expenses, and a further accommodation allowance of £500, since the College will be unable to offer graduate accommodation to the recipient; the award also covers College Fees for graduate membership of the College. The Managers would also consider applications by the holder for financial assistance with related travel. Although remaining as a resident member of the University, the holder will not need to register for any formal degree or other qualification, but will be expected to use the year to develop his or her ideas and practical work. The College has studio facilities available and the holder of the award would be expected to use those facilities as the base for their work. Other things being equal, preference would be given to a current member of Christ's College, and anyone appointed who is not already a member of the College would be expected to become a member.

Any eligible person who is interested in being considered for the award should write to Dr G. R. Alexander at Christ's College, St Andrew's Street, Cambridge, CB2 3BU, by 16 June 2006, giving an indication in outline of their current work in the Visual Arts and of how they would wish to spend the year. Applicants must be available for interview in the week beginning 26 June.
