Announcement of lectures, seminars, etc.

The following lectures, seminars, etc. will be open to members of the University and others who are interested:

Divinity and Oriental Studies. Professor Daniel Estes, of Cedarville University, Ohio, will speak at an open meeting of the Old Testament Seminar on What makes the Strange Woman of Proverbs 1-9 strange?, on 17 May, at 2.30 p.m. in the Runcie Room, Faculty of Divinity, West Road.

Education. A Second Language Education Group Seminar will take place on 22 May at 5 p.m. in Room 2S4 of the New Faculty Building, 184 Hills Road. Dr Anne Ife, of Anglia Ruskin University, will speak on Lingua franca English as mediator language in the L3 classroom. Enquiries should be directed to Edith Esch (e-mail eme10@cam.ac.uk).

Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics. Professor Matthias Flach, of the California Institute of Technology, will give the Fifty-sixth Kuwait Foundation Lecture entitled Weil-etale cohomology, at 5 p.m. on 17 May in the Wolfson Room, Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Wilberforce Road (entrance on Clarkson Road before the Isaac Newton Institute).
