Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos, Part II, 2008: Notice

The Faculty Board of Modern and Medieval Languages give notice that they have prescribed the following topics for the oral examinations in Part II of the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos which will be held in Michaelmas Term 2007, forming part of the examination for Part II in 2008:

Dutch

  1. Migratie: integreren of isoleren?
  2. De invloed van het Modernisme op ons dagelijks leven.
  3. De waarde van het literaire vertalen.
  4. Van boek naar film: toegevoegde waarde?

French

  1. L'exception française: mythe ou réalité?
  2. La francophonie: un anachronisme ou une réalité post-coloniale?
  3. Le français: langue du peuple ou des institutions?
  4. Littérature française et représentation de la marginalité.

German

  1. Deutsch: eine Sprache im Wandel oder im Zerfall?
  2. Die Bundesrepublik heute - auf dem Weg der Normalisierung?
  3. Der Roman als literarische Gattung.
  4. Kann man Kultur untersuchen, ohne den sozialen Aspekt einzubeziehen?

Italian

  1. Istruzione, Cultura e Tecnologia.
  2. Il valore di un'opera d'arte sta nella sua forma, non nel suo contenuto.
  3. I giovani sono ormai globalmente standardizzati.
  4. L'Arte è per definizione elitaria.

Modern Greek

Candidates may also speak on an oral topic of their own choosing, if they do not wish to choose from one of the four topics published above. Candidates will not be required to submit the topic in advance of the examination.
