University of Oxford

PROFESSORSHIP OF THE HISTORY OF ART

The University seeks to appoint a scholar with an international reputation and an outstanding research and publication record to its chair in the History of Art. Applications are welcome from those active in research in all areas and periods of the History of Art, including non-Western art. The Professorship is tenable from 1 October 2007. A non-stipendiary Fellowship at Trinity College is attached to the Professorship.

The Professor will be critical to the future development and success of the subject at Oxford, where it is undergoing unprecedented expansion. The person appointed will be expected to assume a leadership role immediately, in research, teaching, and administration. He or she will be able to judge the direction in which Art History is moving nationally and internationally and to place Oxford at the forefront of that process.
