Graces to be submitted to the Regent House at a Congregation to be held on 25 March 2006

The Council have sanctioned the submission of the following Graces to the Regent House at a Congregation to be held on Saturday, 25 March 2006.1

1. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Divinity honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon The Most Rev. and Rt Hon. ROWAN DOUGLAS WILLIAMS, M.A., F.B.A., Honorary Fellow of Clare College and of Christ's College, Lord Archbishop of Canterbury and Primate of All England.

2. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Law honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon MERVYN ALLISTER KING, M.A., F.B.A., Honorary Fellow of King's College and of St John's College, Governor of the Bank of England.

3. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Law honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon NJABULO SIMAKAHLE NDEBELE, M.A., of Churchill College, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Cape Town, author.

4. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Law honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon CHARLES MARSTILLER VEST, President Emeritus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Professor of Mechanical Engineering.

5. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon EDWARD WITTEN, Charles Simonyi Professor of Mathematical Physics, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, Fields Medallist.

6. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon AHMED ZEWAIL, Linus Pauling Professor of Chemistry and Physics and Director of the NSF Laboratory of Molecular Sciences, California Institute of Technology, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry.

7. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Letters honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon MARGARET DRABBLE, C.B.E., B.A., of Newnham College, author.
