Graces submitted to the Regent House on 8 March 2006

The Council submit the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, other than any which is withdrawn or for which a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 109), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 17 March 2006.

1. That, in respect of any examination held in the Lent and Easter Terms 2006,1

(a) the Registrary may, notwithstanding the regulations for the publication of lists of successful candidates in examinations (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 223),

(i)accept and publish a list later than the latest day or time prescribed by Ordinance therefor;
(ii)accept and publish a list that has been signed by a majority but not by all of the Examiners;
(iii)accept and publish any amended list;

(b) the Examiners may, notwithstanding those regulations and the regulations for the examination concerned, include the names of some or all of the candidates under any of the following headings:

(i)Declared to have deserved honours: to be classified later.
(ii)Candidates successful in the examination: to be classified later.
(iii)Candidates on whom no decision has yet been reached because of insufficient evidence.
(iv)Candidates to whose names a distinctive mark may be attached in an amended list.

2. That, in respect of the Congregations for General Admission to Degrees to be held in June and July 2006, the Vice-Chancellor may, notwithstanding Regulation 7 of the regulations for admission to degrees (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 180), allow a person's name to remain in the list for the conferment of a degree unless she is satisfied by information given in the notice of intention to non placet that there are prima facie reasons requiring further consideration before the degree is conferred.1

3. That, in respect of any examination held in the Lent and Easter Terms 2006 a Degree Committee may, notwithstanding the general regulations for the degree of Master of Philosophy (one-year and two-year courses, Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 453 and 486), appoint additional Examiners or Assessors for the examinations for the degree.1

4. That Regulation 3 for the Jowett Fund be amended to replace the reference to four Managers by a reference to five Managers and by adding the Head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine as the fifth Manager.2

5. That, notwithstanding the provisions of the general regulations for the constitution of the Faculty Boards,3

(a) the Council be authorized to appoint the two persons serving as members of the Computer Science Syndicate in classes (a) and (b) on 1 October 2005 as members of the Faculty Board of Computer Science and Technology in class (b) until 31 December 2006;

(b) the General Board be authorized to appoint the four persons serving as elected members of the Computer Science Syndicate in class (e) on 1 October 2005 as members of the Faculty Board of Computer Science and Technology in class (c) until 31 December 2006;

(c) the General Board be authorized to appoint the two persons serving as elected members of the Computer Science Syndicate in class (g) on 1 October 2005 as members of the Faculty Board of Computer Science and Technology in class (f) until 31 December 2006;

(d) four persons be elected as members of the Faculty Board of Computer Science and Technology in class (a)(ii), two to serve until 31 December 2007 and two until 31 December 2009, the electors in that election being the Professors assigned to the Faculty or to the Computer Laboratory.
