FIXED-TERM LECTURESHIP IN ENGLISH LITERATURE FROM 1740 TO THE PRESENT DAY

University College proposes to appoint a Lecturer in English Language and Literature with effect from 1 October 2006 for a fixed-term period of three years.

The post arises from the award to Dr Jon Mee of a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship. The post-holder will supply replacement teaching during Dr Mee's tenure of this Fellowship, and will be required to teach eight hours a week averaged over each of the three eight-week terms of the academical year for the College, and will, in addition, give up to 16 lectures a year for the Faculty.

Applications are invited from candidates with teaching and research interests in the post-1740 period. Salary will be at the top of the stipendiary lectureship scale (currently £23,182), plus significant additional taxable and non-taxable benefits, as set out in the further particulars, which all candidates should consult.

Application forms and further particulars are available from the College website at http://www.univ.ox.ac.uk/ or from the Academic Administrator, Mrs Jane Hornsby (tel. 01865 286565, e-mail jane.hornsby@univ.ox.ac.uk). Completed application forms, together with a curriculum vitae and a covering letter, should be sent to the Academic Administrator by the closing date of 24 March 2006. Applicants should arrange for three academic referees to send references to the Academic Administrator by the same date. Interviews are expected to take place on 28 April (subject to confirmation).
