Announcement of lectures, seminars, etc.

The following lectures, seminars, etc. will be open to members of the University and others who are interested:

Criminology. Professor Trevor Bennett and Dr Katy Holloway, of the University of Glamorgan, will give a public seminar on Drug-crime connections: themes and variations, on 9 March at 5.30 p.m. in room B3 at the Institute of Criminology, Sidgwick Avenue.

Education. An Arts, Culture and Education/EARS seminar will take place on 15 March between 2 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. in Room GS5 of the New Faculty of Education Building, 184 Hills Road. Felicity Laurence, visiting lecturer at Newcastle University, will be speaking on Musicking and empathy: catalytic connections in the classroom. A School Teaching and Learning seminar will take place on 21 March from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the New Faculty of Education Building, 184 Hills Road. Members of the School Learning and Teaching group of the Faculty of Education will be speaking on Current research on interactive whiteboards in school teaching and learning. Engineering. The fifth lecture of the Fourth Annual Lecture Series in Sustainable Development will take place on 8 March in Lecture Room 0 of the Department of Engineering, Trumpington Street, at 5.30 for 6 p.m. The lecture, entitled Climate change: the end of oil and the necessity of sustainable development, will be given by Rt Hon. Michael Meacher MP, former Minister of State for the Environment, 1997-2003.

MRC Dunn Human Nutrition Unit. The following seminar will be held at 3 p.m. in the Raymond and Beverly Sackler Lecture Theatre, Level 7, Wellcome Trust/MRC Building, Hills Road. For further details please contact Jean Seymour or Penny Peck (tel. 01223 252704).
