University Lecturers

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for a probationary period of five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is currently £25,565 to £39,452 a year.

University Lecturer in the Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education aims to strengthen Cambridge's national and international reputation as a leading centre for study and research in education and as a significant contributor to improving educational practice in partnership with schools and other educational agencies. The Faculty is currently seeking an experienced Lecturer to make a major contribution to the Faculty's work in school improvement and educational leadership.

The successful applicant will be an active educational researcher able to demonstrate successful experience in both teacher development and improving educational practice, and the ability to apply this experience in innovative research and evaluation projects. He/she will make a major contribution to continuing professional development and higher degree work, and may also be expected to contribute to other aspects of Faculty teaching such as the undergraduate and P.G.C.E. courses.

University Lecturer in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese

Applications are invited for the post of University Lecturer in Spanish Golden Age Culture. The successful candidate will be expected to take up appointment on 1 October 2006 or as soon as possible thereafter. The vacancy has arisen because of the retirement of Dr Anthony Close. The post involves responsibility for the teaching of a range of courses involving Golden Age Literature and Culture, and a contribution to departmental language teaching in Spanish. The successful candidate will be expected to show outstanding achievement and potential in research and publication in the field, and to have a native or excellent non-native command of Spanish and English.

Two Clinical Lecturers/Specialist Registrars in the Clinical School (Paediatrics)

Applications are invited to fill two vacant Clinical Lecturer posts in the fields of endocrinology and diabetes, which will complement a third Lecturer post. All three posts share responsibility for clinical duties and undergraduate teaching, and there is considerable emphasis on research.

The successful applicants will be of the standard required for an honorary contract of service with the NHS Executive Eastern Region as a Specialist Registrar, at least of year three level. Applicants are expected to have, or to have almost completed, a postgraduate degree.

The salary for these posts will be between £28,307 and £49,042 a year. The appointments will be for four years, with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years.

Administrative Officer, Grade I, in the Academic Division of the University Offices (Faculty of Philosophy)

Applications are invited for the post of Administrative Officer, Grade I, with duties in the Faculty of Philosophy. As part of the senior management team, the post-holder will help shape and implement policies concerned with effective resource management and oversee the administrative support of the Faculty.

Candidates should be educated to degree level and have previous relevant experience in a senior administrative post, including proven ability in managing resources and staff, preferably gained in a higher education establishment.

This is a part-time appointment (80% of full time). Appointment will be to the retiring age subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade I, is currently £27,929 to £33,646 a year (pro rata for this post).

Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Faculty of English and Department of French

Applications are invited for a Mellon Foundation two-year postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Contemporary Anglophone and Francophone Film (with relation to Film Theory), starting on 1 October 2006. The post is a joint appointment by the Faculty of English and the Department of French. The successful applicant will act as a catalyst for further collaboration between the Faculty of English and the Department of French in research and in the teaching of film and visual media at undergraduate and graduate level. A new M.Phil. in Screen Media and Cultures will be taught for the first time from October 2006 (for further information see http://www.screenmedia.group.cam.ac.uk/index.html). The Fellowship is supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and is tenable for two years. It is not associated with a Fellowship of a Cambridge College, but can be combined with a non-stipendiary College Fellowship. Applicants should have already received their doctorate and candidature will be restricted to applicants who are not more than five years past their Ph.D. Degree submission date. The stipend will be £25,565.
