David Crighton Fellowships: Notice

The Managers of the David Crighton Fund are pleased to announce the winners of the David Crighton Fellowships. These Fellowships have been established to enable young researchers in the late Professor Crighton's areas of interest to undertake up to three months' study and research with a suitable host in Cambridge (or elsewhere, if they are already in Cambridge).

The 2005 David Crighton Fellows are:

Mr Richard Clarke, of the University of Nottingham, to work with Professor T. J. Pedley in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics on 'Motile organism swimming - bacterial adhesion'.

Dr Tarik Yousef, of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, to work with Dr A. Schekochihin in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics on 'Hydrodynamic and MHD Turbulence'.

Mr Gert Lube, of the Leibniz Institute IFM-Geomar, Kiel, working with Professor H. E. Huppert of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics on 'Granular flows and applications to geophysics'.

Mr Antonis Papachristodolou, of the California Institute of Technology, working with Professor A. P. Dowling in the Department of Engineering on 'Controlled combustion oscillations: an algorithmic approach'.
