PROFESSORSHIP OF STATISTICS IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCES

The University wishes to elect a Professor of Statistics in the Social Sciences, tenable from September 2006 and on the establishment of both the Department of Politics and International Relations and the Department of Statistics. The Professorship will be attached to a Fellowship at Nuffield College.

The Professor will be a statistician of international distinction with research interests in the social sciences, who will be committed to the development and application of statistical techniques in the study of issues related to politics, international relations, or sociology. It is expected that the successful candidate will have an international reputation for innovative research in statistics in the social sciences, and a commitment to the development of this field and, if successful, will benefit from Oxford's international renown as a base for their own research activities.
