University Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

The Clinical School intends to appoint to this office as soon as possible. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a programme of research and to participate in clinical work and teaching. Appointment will be to the retiring age subject to satisfactory completion of a probationary period. Salary will be on the scale of £69,298 to £93,768 a year, according to the level of seniority.

Keeper in the Fitzwilliam Museum (Head of Education)

The Museum is seeking an experienced educator to lead its education service. The Museum is committed to education, is a partner in the East of England Museums Hub under 'Renaissance in the Regions', has new dedicated education spaces, and boasts an exceptional education team.

The Head of Education is a member of the senior management who contributes to strategic planning, both within the museum and regionally. Leading a small team, the post-holder will have responsibility for the planning and delivery of learning and training programmes for schools and colleges, adult learners, communities, and families.

The post demands extensive experience of museum education, a track record of high-level management and leadership within an educational setting, proven experience of successful teaching and training at many levels, and a readiness to work effectively with the museum's collections. A degree in a relevant subject is essential and a P.G.C.E. is desirable. The pensionable scale of stipends for a Keeper is £26,470 to £39,452 a year.

Administrative Officer, Grade II, in the Academic Division of the University Offices

Applications are invited for the post of Administrative Officer, Grade II, assigned to the Faculty of Economics, with a particular focus on supporting graduate and undergraduate teaching and the management of the graduate and undergraduate offices.

Candidates should be educated to degree level and have previous relevant experience in an administrative post, preferably in a higher education establishment.

Administrative Officer, Grade II, in the Childcare Office of the Personnel Division

Applications are invited for the post of Administrative Officer, Grade II (Playscheme Co-ordinator). The post-holder will be responsible for providing a holiday playscheme operating over two or more sites, used over the year by nearly 500 children aged 5 to 11 as well as 11 to 16 year olds who attend the playscheme as trainee volunteers or volunteers. The post-holder will manage typically 35 to 40 temporary playworkers at any one time, drawn from a bank of about 100 and will also act as deputy to the Manager of Childcare Services.

The successful candidate will have good experience of working with children and a playwork or childcare qualification to at least NVQ level 3, good interpersonal, communication, and management skills, and a first aid qualification. Applicants should also have knowledge of a range of activities suitable for the age group including, for instance, arts and crafts and sport.

The appointment will be to the retiring age subject to the satisfactory completion of a nine-month probationary period. The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade II, is currently, £23,182 to £30,002. Salary on appointment will be determined according to qualifications and experience.

Administrative Officer, Grade II, in the Press and Publications Office of the University Offices

The Press and Publications Office is seeking a Communications Officer to promote the research activities of the University. The post-holder will work with University Departments finding newsworthy developments and publicizing them to the national, international, local, and relevant sector media.

The post-holder will have excellent writing and communication skills as well as the ability to work under pressure. Experience of working with the media will be an advantage.

Able to demonstrate ability to translate highly technical and scientific material into stories for the public, the post-holder will have good interpersonal skills and have high professional standards. The post will be available from 3 January 2006. The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade II, is £23,182 to £30,002 a year.

Board of Scrutiny part-time Support Officer

The Board of Scrutiny require a part-time Support Officer to assist with carrying out research and making enquiries on the Board's behalf, drafting its Reports, and providing administrative support (minute taking, circulation of documents, arrangement of meetings). The post is available from 1 December. The Board has no executive power but looks at what has happened in the University in previous years and comments on this to the University's governing body, the Regent House. The Support Officer will possess good organizational skills, including the ability to understand complex administrative issues, and will be able to draft reports on complex issues. The Support Officer should be capable of working independently, researching matters of importance.

The post-holder should be competent in using IT applications, and must be tactful, diplomatic, persistent, and resourceful. The post-holder will need a background in or good working knowledge of University or College administration. A degree level of education is necessary.

The Support Officer will be responsible to the Chairman of the Board of Scrutiny and will work closely with the Secretary and other members.

The Support Officer will be expected to work 240 hours a year and his or her stipend will be 12.5% of that of an Administrative Officer, Grade II (full time). The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade II (full time), is £23,182 to £30,002 a year. At present the Easter Term is the busiest period.
